I Love You in Japanese
HOW TO SAY I LOVE YOU IN JAPANESE WITHOUT EMBARRASSMENT?
If you are at the point in your relationship and you want to know how to say I love you in Japanese then it’s a very important stage indeed!
Before I tell you how you say I love you in the Japanese language, you must be completely sure you are at that stage. The Japanese people take this word very seriously, even more than other countries.
By saying the words I love you implies a very deep meaning in the Japanese langauge and is not a casual thing at all. So as I said, please make sure you mean it when you say love in Japanese.
So with that out of the way, how you say I love you in Japanese is to use the following word – Aishiteru which you pronounce like Ai shi te ru.
Do not say those words if you want to say you’re attracted to the person. In that case you should say Daisuki which you pronounce like Da i su ki. This means you really like that person, so it does not necessarily mean you fancy the person but you can use it in this case.
A more complete way of saying Daisuki is to use the following words – Anata ga daisuki desu which you pronounce like A na ta ga da i su ki de su.
You can also use Daisuki to let your non romantic friend know that you really like him or her.
If you are in any doubt whether you are both at the right stage to say I love you in Japanese then I would recommend you say Daisuki instead of Aishiteru. This will avoid any embarrassment!
Another option is to sign up to a full language course which can help regarding dating Japanese women (or man). I’ve used one of these courses to learn Japanese and I found it contained many helpful language tips which I think will help people dating a Japanese person.
I’m already married to a Japanese lady, so I don’t need these tips anymore to date a Japanese women but I can see how they would be very useful to someone dating (or wanting to date) a Japanese person.

There are many more Japanese words which you need to learn in your relationship to be successful in love in Japanese.

How do you say ” the first person i fell in love with ” in japanese ? i want to know if there’s a phrase with rather an ” ai ” in it .( ai in japanese means love , doesn’t it ?) could you please send an e-mail to me ?
I have heard a phrase with same meaning in an anime , it was sth like :” haji nattesh kini nattash to ni ” and i’m sure i’m 90% wrong because i realized that what we hear in japanese is different from its proper spelling . what do you think that phrase could be ? i depend on your answer . please help me .
Hi Zahra,
It is probably “Hajimete Kimi O Sukini Narimashita” which means something like “You are the first person I fell in love with”.
I hope that helps
Can you also tell me what does ” atashi ga ubarate hajimate aishtash toni” mean ?
I think the words you want to know the meaning of are “atashi ga umarete hajimate aishitanowa kimi” which means a lady is referring to herself (the word “atashi”) and it means a similar thing to your first question (“you are the first person I fell in love with”). And it is a very strong meaning.
Thank you very much . my second question was actually this : ” the first person i fell in love with asked me to marry him “. in this case could the translation of “the first person i fell in love with… ” be any different from the translation of”you are the first person i fell in love with ? could you please explain ?
and another thing please … how to say “he loves you”( a woman says to the other ) .
Sorry about the delay replying but I’ve been really busy at work. I’ll ask my (Japanese) wife regarding your latest question.
Hello!
I am learning japanese and I was wondering, how do you say, “I want to tell you I like you, but I don’t know how” in japanese. Im hoping the guy I like will know what Im saying, so I wont feel like a loser.
Thank you!!
That’s a difficult one because it depends on the situation.
But something like “Dono youni tsutaetara yoika wakaranaikeredo, Anata no kotoga suki desu.” should be OK.
